Spider Rico
2011 – 2012
Last Friday, our friend and cube-mate Spider Rico passed away. Much like his namesake, he was a fighter. However our Spider Rico lost his battle not to the Italian Stallion, but instead to the mortal coil.
Already, we are feeling the pain of loss as we come to work and walk past his empty fishbowl. Where once a happy little fish slumbered on his plastic plant and anxiously anticipated a daily ration of food pellets, now there is only a sticker of a fish affixed to his bowl in memoriam. I would caution you not to see that as a statement of our ability or willingness to keep fish alive, but instead as a symbol of how irreplaceable Spider Rico will always be.
Even in death, Spider Rico had one last lesson for all of us. He gave us yet another reminder that life is fleeting. Let his passing serve as the catalyst to restore work/life balance in your own life lest we come to work one Monday morning and find you slumped over your keyboard. Make time for your family and friends; Clarity will still be here tomorrow.
Upon finding Spider Rico, a cry of outrage arose from his admirers. We appreciate everyone’s concern, but after a complete criminal investigation, we can safely exonerate any suspects. The coroner ruled this case as expiration from natural causes. No foul play was involved, and we should no longer persecute the innocent (Tim).
The funeral was held Monday morning when Spider Rico was given a burial at sea in the 5th floor handicapped bathroom. Spider Rico leaves behind a single relative, his sibling Thunderlips. In lieu of flowers, feel free to deposit donations in the Curse Bowl for his ongoing care and support.
